Our Congregation
Covenenting Member
All “Covenanting Partners” as of July 1, 2014, are members of the Congregation. Anyone else wishing to become a member of the Seaside United Church of Christ may do so by signing a copy of the Behavioral Covenant and agreeing to abide by its principles. In order to vote in any Congregational meeting, a Covenanting Partner must have been in such status for a minimum of 60 days. The Congregation may, after providing written notice, place in General Member status any Covenanting Partner who has not attended worship or contributed to the Congregation’s support for a period of one year.
Covenanting Partners in the church commit to 3 things:
to be a presence in the worship of God in the church
to support the church with a pledge of money
to promise to share time and gifts by doing something for the church: Service.
We Welcome All Who Welcome All to attend worship services and events. Those wishing to join the Seaside United Church of Christ can select to become either a “Covenanting Partner” or a “General Member” as described below.
General Member
Individuals who are part of the Congregational life but do not wish to become Covenanting Partners are considered General Members of Seaside United Church of Christ. They are welcome to an active participation in the worship life, ministry and mission of the Congregation, with a voice in all meetings but without a vote. General Members are invited to serve on various committees, such as Faith Formation and Outreach, but they may not hold office in the Congregation.
